The artist is known for her large acrylic studies of abstract color and texture. She hopes to encourage emotion and delight through her emphasis of light and essence. Sources of inspiration are often from nature, travel, fashion and music.
Liisa’s mother is from Finland, where she spent her childhood holidays absorbing the culture and appreciation of Finnish design and aesthetics. Most of her youth was spent in England, where she was first exposed to studying modern art and the French Impressionist styles of painting she is known to love. After moving to California for high school and college, she studied Eastern philosophy and business, before spending the next ten years working in technology, marketing and ecommerce.
Her work has most recently been displayed and auctioned at the Soho House, New York to support the American Cancer Society and also at the Young Patrons of Lincoln Center 2011 Fall Gala. Paintings are currently displayed in private homes and offices in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Liisa currently lives in New York City and San Francisco, and is available by appointment.

"I am thrilled to have one of Liisa's paintings hanging as the centerpiece of my living room. It is the perfect fit. The colors and texture jump off the canvas and seem to awaken my senses every time I enter the space. Yet, at the same time it isn't overpowering and blends perfectly with the rest of the room. A truly fantastic piece."

"Liisa Hunter's artwork emotes unrestricted passion and emotion in a soothing, flowing manner. The brush strokes and color palate she employs have a melodic quality and her visuals have an ethereal, vaporous quality through which images and places from your own past reappear to you."
Lauren Crowley
"In a word, the painting is simply extraordinary – but, most incredible, is the many different characters that it takes on throughout the day. As the light changes, the painting brings a new spirit to the room. In the morning, there is absolute brilliance as it glows and shimmers. By the end of the day, the sense of tranquility is palpable. It brings such life to our home."
